Overview

This page shows how to generate something called a codebook. A codebook is a concise statistical description of each variable in a SAS dataset.

Customized statistics are used based on variable characteristics. Count and percent are given for categorical variables (e.g. sex), while mean, standard deviation, quantiles, and a list of the 5 highest and 5 lowest values are shown for continuous variables (e.g. heart rate).
